 What you need so to enjoy the walks

Below is a guide to what you need on a walk. It is not a definitive list but gives you an idea of what to expect.

  • Good footwear. Most of our walks will involve various combinations of footpaths, bridleways, tracks, roads, rocks and lumpy boggy moorland. You need to have the right footwear to protect your feet
  • Food for lunch.  All walks are planned assuming that participants will bring a packed-lunch. Once on the walk there may be nowhere to buy food so ensure that you buy a sandwich in town prior to boarding the train/bus.
  • Water or non alcoholic drinks
  • Water-proof clothing
  • Warm clothing. All our destinations have the potential to be a bit chilly; especially if the wind gets up. It's wise to always have a fleece, hat and gloves in your ruck-sack
  • Torch for Winter excursions.  It can get dark very early at 4-5.00pm.

Please note that:-

  • Footpath issues can be reported direct to the Ramblers via the Pathwatch webpage or app;
  • Be nice to your leader! They are trying to make your day enjoyable
